So more prep work has been happening in the patch in the last week.
I dug small trenches to take the weeping hose I had, the idea is to deliver the water direct to the roots without covering the leaves, and reducing the chances of powdery mildew.
In the trench with the hose is EF Nano Cal, this is to bring up the calcium level in the soil, as this is the main thing lacking according to the soil test I got.
On top of that I filled it all in with the horse poo I have.
For the rest of the area it got a dose of the leftover EF Nano Cal, old lawn clippings on top, and the rest of the horse poo spread around. Still have a bit more to spread, but that is tomorrows job after work.
After this has all been done, I am probably going to run another hose opposite to the other one to cover the patch properly, and then get the mulch sorted to put on top. This will reduce the amount of evaporation that occurs over summer, and keep more water in the soil.
That’s the plan.
There is still bits of grass around, which I should remove, but I’ll sort that out later.
