I like talking to people about giant pumpkin growing, and I like when they get as excited about is as I am.
It’s better when you can get other people you know involved in something competitive. This hold true when growing giant pumpkins.
From keen gardeners to completely new people, having people take part, whether it is a public or private event is an awesome idea.
How to Get People Excited
There are a couple of different ways to get people excited about growing giant pumpkins.
Talk to Them
Start a conversation with them about giant pumpkins, explain to them how easy they are to grow and see if they are keen to have a competition.
It’s OK if you don’t have all the answers they may have, see who is keen. We all have that one person in our lives who thinks they are an expert in everything.
Show them Photos
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and the right giant pumpkin photo has to be worth more than double that.

Place a Bet
Some people like to have a little wager on the go when trying something like this. Now not everyone will have ability to weigh their giant pumpkins, so make sure to be clear on the rules, especially if they are to be measured. Bragging Rights
At the end of the day there are always great stories around growing giant pumpkins. Wayward animals destroying plants or pumpkins, interesting ideas, secret formulas for fertiliser or dare I say it sabotage.
Whoever is standing at the end of the day with the biggest or heaviest pumpkin has the bragging rights. Remember if you season didn’t go to plan, there is always next year.
